More Than Days

Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 2026

More Than Days is a personal recovery and rebuilding app. This policy explains, in plain language, what information the app holds, where it is stored, how it is used, and the choices you have. If anything here is unclear, write to us at morethandaysapp@gmail.com.

Who we are

More Than Days is operated by Mark Clement Rose, an individual (sole proprietor) based in Canada. Mark Clement Rose is the data controller for the service — the person responsible for deciding how and why your information is used. You can reach the controller at morethandaysapp@gmail.com.

What we collect

When you create an account and use More Than Days, the app stores:

  • Account information — your email address and a securely hashed password, used only to sign you in.
  • Profile information — the first name you choose to share, your recovery start date, and the areas of life you tell us you are rebuilding.
  • Recovery and check-in information — daily check-ins (mood, gratitude, wins, notes), rough-day markers, and recovery milestones.
  • Goals and rebuilding information — savings goals, amounts, and other goals you create, including optional financial details such as estimated daily spending.
  • Gratitude entries — the gratitude notes you record during check-ins.
  • 12-step reflections — your private reflections, questions for your sponsor, actions, and learning notes for each step you choose to work on, plus the recovery fellowships you tell us you follow.
  • Support and trusted contacts — names, phone numbers and roles of people you add (for example a sponsor or counsellor). These are stored so the app can help you reach them quickly.

Some of this information is deeply personal and may imply substance-use or recovery history. We treat all of it as private.

How your information is stored

Your information is stored in a hosted database under your account. Every private record belongs to exactly one account, and access rules enforced by the database itself mean one signed-in user cannot read, change, or delete another user's records. People who are not signed in cannot read any private records at all.

The app also keeps a working copy of your own data in your browser's local storage so the app opens quickly. This copy is removed when you sign out. The server is the source of truth.

AI-assisted features

More Than Days includes optional AI-assisted features (such as the urge-support companion, pattern insights, and the weekly recap). These features are supportive and reflective tools only — they are not medical, psychiatric, legal, or emergency advice, and they are not a substitute for a sponsor, counsellor, doctor, or any other professional.

AI features are only used after you have seen and accepted an in-app notice explaining that your information will be processed by an external AI service. When you use an AI feature, the app sends a summary of the information needed for that feature — which can include your first name, recovery progress, goals, recent check-ins, and reflections you have written — to an external AI provider to generate a response. We do not claim that this information is anonymised.

If what you write suggests you may be in crisis, the app responds with crisis and support resources instead of an AI-generated reply. Crisis resources in the app (such as the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) are always available without AI and without signing in.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell your personal information.
  • We do not run advertising or use your recovery information for advertising.
  • We do not use third-party analytics that track you across other apps or websites.

We do not claim HIPAA, PHIPA, PIPEDA, GDPR, SOC 2 or any other certification or formal compliance status. More Than Days is a self-help tool, not a medical service.

Payments

If you subscribe to More Than Days Pro, the purchase is processed by Paddle.com, which acts as our reseller and Merchant of Record. Paddle collects the information needed to take payment, calculate tax, issue invoices and handle refunds. We never see or store your card details. We keep only what the app needs: whether your subscription is on a trial, active, cancelled or ended, which plan it is, when the current period ends, and the provider's customer and subscription identifiers. None of your recovery information is shared with Paddle.

Cookies and local storage

The app uses your browser's local storage for two things: keeping you signed in between visits, and keeping a working copy of your own data so the app loads quickly. Signing out removes these. The app does not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Exporting your information

You can download a copy of the recovery information in your account (profile, check-ins, goals, step reflections, rough days, and support contacts) as a JSON file from your profile screen at any time, free of charge.

Deleting your account

You can permanently delete your account from your profile screen. Deletion removes your sign-in and, with it, every private record attached to your account — profile, check-ins, goals, step work, support contacts, and related records. Deletion is irreversible. If the deletion cannot be fully completed, the app tells you honestly rather than pretending it succeeded.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new "last updated" date. Significant changes will also be highlighted inside the app.
